My name is Yolanda, forty – four years of age and was born on 1976. I am from the Philippines. I got my government service when I first landed a job as a public basic secondary education teacher at Saint Paul National High School for a year. For now, I am presently employed as an Assistant Professor 3 for more than nineteen years at Isabela State University Ilagan Campus.
I have a big family, my parents are both deceased. They raised eight children and I am the youngest in the family. The eldest Vicente (62 y/o), Antonio (deceased, 59), Natividad (58), Arnolfo ( 57), Elsa (55), Sylvia (53) and Fatima (49)
I have seven nephews and nine nieces. I have a very closed family to include my cousins and other relatives in my mother’s and father’s sides. As a custom and tradition, we are fond of celebrating special occasions which serve as family reunion wherein our family members have a chance chatting, singing, playing games and telling stories of experiences.
Having fun during this special get together is one of the highlights of the occasion. The elders also are the ones preparing the foods.
When I reached the right age, I got married at the age of twenty-seven to Benedict Albano and had my first born Kate (17) a year after. My second child Precious Gem (12) and my youngest Benedict Roman Jr. (6).
Having my own family is a very rich experience as a mother and as a homemaker. I played the major role in raising and taking care of them. I took several responsibilities like: bathing, changing diapers, feeding, taking them for a stroll, and seeing after their medication when they are sick. My greatest challenge in child care specially to children is when they are sick. I always put my shoes to theirs feeling that I wanted that their sufferings should be mine. I have to be alert at all times to be sure that they are being cared of and have their medicines on time. Dealing with their tantrums is another challenge also. During school days, I used to wake the kids up at the right time to be ready for school. I cooked breakfast for them, bathed them and prepared their school uniforms. I also helped the kids in their school assignments. Once in a week my husband and I took them to mall and park to unwind for a week’s work. Now, I realized that as a mother being a childcare provider calls for a great responsibility.
Moreover, before I had my own family, I experienced being a nanny to my nieces and nephews. My brothers and sisters handed the responsibility to me to take care of their children when they go for work. I took care of them for several years and did tasks.
I really love children. I considered them as blessings from God. They always make me smile and remove my stress brought about by day’s work. They also serve as an inspiration to go through life. They are the most vulnerable beings who need great utmost attention and protection.
I can say that one of my concerns in dealing with children is their safety in and out of the home. Honestly speaking, I really love children, enjoying working with them and treating them like my own. I am a person whom the family can rely on. I am also flexible with schedules knowing that events may occur unexpectedly. I am also concern on the emotional, physical and behavioral well-being of the children. As a home technologist, I can also prepare simple and healthy foods for the kids. I have a great verbal communication skills using English as my medium of communication and can assist children with their needs. In addition, I am a God-fearing individual.
As an educator, I excel at:
- Engaging children with educational games and nature walks.
- Assisting school-age children with home works.
- Managing time on other activities.
- Modelling appropriate behaviors.
I am a nature lover and it goes with my favorite color, green. I love animals also especially dogs. I am not choosy when it comes to foods. I also enjoy to get along with others. I am a person who can adjust immediately to new environment.
I would also love to know the Canadian way of life, my desire to know more about your country and its culture. My family and my friends support my decision of being a part of your beautiful country.
I hope that you can count on me as a nanny and consider my qualifications and characters.
Hope to meet your family and your children.
Sincerely,
Yolanda
