Dear Kind-hearted Family,
Good Day!
My name is Mary Joy Grapa Marapao, I’m 28 years of age. I was born in Siayan, Zamboanga del Norte, Philippines on December 19th, 1991. Family is very important to me and the core of who I am. Both of my parents are still in my hometown, Siayan. My father is a heavy equipment operator and my mother is a housewife. I have one brother who is currently working in Saudi Arabia as an electronics technician. I have a 6-year old daughter who is currently living with my parents. Being a single mother is a tough job. Not to mention the experiences I’ve had when I was 100% hands-on to her the time she was born until a year that I had to leave for work to provide her needs and to support my family as well. I’m currently in Saudi Arabia too for the time being but my dream has always been to come to Canada. It’s been something I’ve wanted to do ever since I was a child and everyone that talks about it in my hometown has always raved at how beautiful and how amazing a place it is to live. Over the last couple of years, I’ve really fallen in love with the west coast part of Canada. Living not far from the Pacific Ocean and being surrounded by plentiful trees and weather that is not that dissimilar from my own upbringing.
I speak 4 languages: English, Arabic, Tagalog, and Cebuano which is also my mother tongue. In the future I hope to learn more languages such as Korean, Spanish and French. Language is very important to me and constantly learning helps keep my mind fresh. I do have other interests such as reading books, arts and crafts, dancing, cooking, makeup and beauty, and exercise.
As for my studies and work, I graduated in 2012 with a Bachelors Degree of Science in Nursing in the Philippines and became a registered nurse in the same year. I am currently working as a Pediatric Nurse in Outpatient Clinical Department here in Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. I’ve had my first Basic Life Support/CPR training course before I graduated, renewed it while I was working during my first job, did the third training and seminar with Pediatric BLS as a pre-requisite when I applied here in Saudi Arabia last 2016, and just had my fourth training of the same in addition to Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (American Heart Association Certified) when I went for a vacation to the Philippines in 2018.
Taking care of children is adventurous, exciting, and amazing at the same time. Each day you will experience something different because a child’s attention span is way different than adults. Their needs and wants change just like a flip of a coin and being well prepared for that is something I’ve got lots of experience in. I have a unique skill set with being a nurse specializing in Pediatrics. Working in this field for almost 5 years made me more closer to children and honed my skills in taking care of newborn babies up to 13-15 years old. I love being around them and they likewise love being around me. In being a pediatric nurse I give them baths, administer medications through intravenous or intramuscular injections, extract blood for investigations and differentiate normal sicknesses during the teething stage to other causes like bacterial or viral infections. One of the most rewarding experiences I have had has been taking care of a hydrocephalus baby and providing personalized support to the family.
To my future kind-hearted employer, I am happy and excited to share with you and your family my skills and experiences in taking care of your little ones as well as the entire family. I can be your all-around nurse. I guarantee you that your child’s health and well being are in the right hands as I believed that I was born to be a pediatric nurse, to hold, to aid, to save, to help, to teach and to inspire as this is my calling. Not only do I have the skills of taking care of babies and children, but also I prioritize their safety and security. I would welcome the opportunity to provide experienced and personalized support to your family and hoping to learn more about your particular needs.
Please do not hesitate to contact me for further details or any questions you may have. I hope this finds you well and hope to hear from you soon.
Regards,
MARY JOY MARAPAO
